Tonight I had the pleasure and honour of performing at the Winsome's Soup Kitchen fund raiser in Lismore.
The soup kitchen have various choirs who meet weekly at the Winsome, covering Gospel style, a Gay Choir, a band and other various line up.
The music is co-ordinated and conducted by Peter Lehner, from the Sydney Choir of Hard Knocks.
Peter's got a beautiful personality that presents a safe space for people to feel comfortable singing with others around.
Many of the performers from tonight had never sang before, like myself.
I only started when i was 23years old...I'd finished my Engineering degree, bought a guitar, one year later, met my Ozzie wife Amanda, and next thing I'm singing for all the world to hear.....and I'm somebody who'd never sing in front of anyone before that. I didn't know i could sing, till i found a comfortable space to try it out.And tonight's concert reminder me of that fact....anyone and everyone can sing.
If u can breathe and talk, then you can sing.
There'll always be someone better than you, just as there will be someone not as good as you...but it not about that.
